"The earlier meaning of the adjective "stout" (until the fourteenth century) was "proud" or "brave", but then it got the meaning "strong." (Wikipedia) We felt this was a great adjective to describe the Boxer who is all of this and more. The Stout Boxer family is located along the southern coast of Oregon.
